Amethyst Moon creates a variety of work across several media, including painting, mosaic, sculpture, assemblage and occasionally, jewellery. They draw inspiration from many things such as the natural world, stories, songs, myths and legends, and sometimes current events.Amethyst Moon loves using themes in their art; this could be as simple as a particular colour scheme, the exploration of song lyrics or a special poem, a range of funky Goddesses and even sombre topics like death! They also enjoy using humour and creating art that is a bit irreverent and cheeky, because we need to laugh at life sometimes right, especially now?!Amethyst Moon enjoys creating functional art pieces such as trinket boxes and bespoke art journals. These are fun pieces that are designed to bring a bit of artistic flair into everyday life – definitely not to be taken too seriously!

Amethyst Moon Art is the brand of mixed media artist Luna Cameron-Parrish.I make art that I hope will bring people joy and make them smile, or maybe laugh, but also maybe make them think.My creations are unique and off-beat and are made especially for eccentric, weird, quirky people. They are definitely not for the mainstream or the faint-hearted!

Process

My art-making generally begins with a subject or theme that I want to focus on, and I then decide what medium/media I need to use to bring it to life. This is often some kind of mosaic or simple sculpture to begin with, but pieces often change as I build up a narrative around them.I love to re-use and repurpose things as well, so found objects and recycled items will usually find their way into my work at some stage. It’s really important to me that I do this, that I do my small bit to try and not contribute more junk to the world, but use what I have sensibly and mindfully. To take something that has been discarded, perhaps unloved, and reshape it to tell a new story is perhaps one of my ultimate goals. If the story I tell resonates with someone else, then that’s even better!

Custom orders

Commissions accepted for bespoke mosaic or sculpture. Animal and pet portraits are a specialty.A design fee is required before work begins – usually within the range of $50 – $150 depending on the final size of the work.The customer will be consulted about the best type of materials to use to suit their desired result.
