Corner of Little Bourke St and Russell St. Melbourne’s Chinatown was established in the 1850s during the Victorian gold rush and is one of the oldest Chinatown in the Western world after Liverpool’s Chinatown and San Francisco’s Chinatown. The first time I saw Chinatown I fell in love with the life and vibrancy of the place. I loved to see the variety of characters and styles. I loved all the signs of the different restaurants and shops on both sides of the street, and the arcades and tiny lanes branching off. It quickly became one of my favourite places in the city and I still feel that same excitement every time I am there. This drawing was done with ink using micro pen and no ruler.
