A lightweight knit jacket in an Italian kid mohair/ wool mix yarn. The jacket is Hand- dyed and may be worn fastened with a Brooch or Pin. Light enough to wear under a coat, and perfect for providing warmth without weight in the office. The jacket has a lovely elfin shape with flared hem and cuffs.
Nullarbor Nights Knitwear garments are designed on paper or computer and the fabric is then machine- knitted in the Queanbeyan Studio, using mostly natural materials. The Pieces are linked together on a hand Operated Linker and then the Wools and Silks are often hand- dyed in a variety of colors, more colors than are ever produced in the mainstream garment industry. This is one of the benefits of being a small producer, production changes may be made quickly without economic disadvantages.Jewellery is hand- painted on timber using Acrylic paints
Most Garments are Hand Wash gently, Dry flat on a Clothes dryer and then gentle Iron

Nullarbor Nights Knitwear

Artisan-Designed & Created Knitwear and Accessories

Alice Leda Pettirosso has spent her whole working life dedicated to her textile work. She created her knitwear label Nullarbor Nights Knitwear in 1991 whilst living in a stone hut on the Nullarbor Desert in WA. She used a knitting machine powered by solar energy, and dyed garments in pots in her kitchen. Although her full-time work involves making knitwear she also enjoys making unique and quirky jewellery to complement her garments or to act as connectors for her Wraps and Coats. She believes an understanding of the materials is vital in order to bring out the best in the combinations she creates. Her hand-made items help to create a relationship with the wearer, therefore creating with positivity, love and optimism is a vital aspect of her work. Alice has taken her knitwear to Gift Shows in San Francisco and New York, and her Scarves and Wraps have retailed in stores in Sweden, Canada, Singapore, the US and in galleries throughout Australia. She helped set up the acclaimed gallery T’Arts Textile and Arts Collective in Adelaide SA in 2004 and has won an assortment of prizes for textile work, wearable art and design throughout her career. Alice has held workshops in printmaking for children, and brooch making to increase awareness of mental health Alice set up her textile studio in Queanbeyan NSW in 2006 where she is still creating unusual Knitwear and Accessories, and also exploring Digital Art
