For my illustrated work, I often use procreate on my iPad using various brushes designed by artists. I often use inspiration from real life and my imagination to create cute and whimsical illustrations. My process varies from work to work. I often start from scratch with handmade journal covers, and start with cardboard and calico fabric to create the shape of the cover, then I paint it, decorate it or add an illustrated print and frame, and cover it with varnish. That’s just a small first step!
Items vary in care that they need. Some junk journals seem to not do well in very hot or sunny spaces in the home, unless they are isolated from other books. I will put a note in books that need care.

Handmade Journals, Sketchbooks and Gift Cards

I am inspired by old materials and books. I enjoy collecting all of these materials to make something new, that may not just sit on the shelf, unnoticed. I am always on the lookout for new materials that are collected from all over- op shops, markets and even from overseas – I really enjoy combining new and old materials to make junk journals. I am also an artist and enjoy making watercolour sketchbooks to bring a unique style into a sketchbook. Of course, I’m always doing my own illustrations, and enjoy making cards every year and tags to add a nice touch to a special gift.
