We make our mugs through sublimation printing, sourcing all materials here in Australia. Our mugs are designed (by humans) with digitally drawn graphics, and printed and pressed right here in Melbourne! We use high quality sublimation materials to produce the best and brightest mugs possible. Designs are then pressed onto mug blanks using high heat, ensuring durability with proper care so your new favourite mug will last a lifetime!
While our mugs are dishwasher safe, please note that hand-washing is preferred to preserve print integrity, and ensure your printed mugs look better for longer! Our mugs are small batch printed and hand pressed, so colours may vary slightly across batches.

The Ugly Mug Co

Quirky, Sassy Printed Mugs!

Hi there! I’m Michaela, an animator/graphic designer who has become disillusioned with my office job (and corporate jobs as a whole). I started The Ugly Mug Co. as a way to bring light and fun to the polished, grey facade of the modern world and combine my two great loves: bold, bright graphic design and homeware/drinkware! For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved homeware. Bus as I’ve become older I’m seeing more and more dreary neutrals and sad grey and beige. Working as a medical receptionist through university amped this up tenfold. So I figured it’s time to breathe some new life into our tired, neutral spaces with a little bit of colour (and sass!) We make our mugs through sublimation printing. I design everything digitally, hand drawing patterns and graphics, before printing and pressing the designs onto each mug.
